FACE TO FACE

Face exercises

Face exercises battle the damage produced in the facial muscles after repeated and habitual use of such muscles. Although it may at first be difficult to believe that face muscles are adversely affected by facial expressions, one only has to consider that with the regular use of muscles in the face to frown, smile, and wrinkle the brow that the muscles adapt to such habitual use. In the end, facial muscles begin to weaken, and your face begins to reflect the muscle wastage in the way of wrinkles, frown lines and deep furrows in the skin. Of course, it is impossible to walk around expressionless all the time in an effort to keep youthful looking skin. For one thing, it’s inhuman and for another, you would drive yourself insane trying to maintain an emotionless face all the time. Face exercises provide you with the option of recapturing the beautiful appearance you once had without the need for costly and painful operations, injections or the need to spend thousands of dollars on ineffective beauty treatments. Think of it; by using a few facial exercises a day you can look ten years younger within 30 days from the day you begin the simple exercises. Essentially, facial exercises can help minimize the appearance of sagging skin and as a result, firm the appearance of the skin’s surface. By stimulating the correct muscles with exercise, you will increase the blood flow to the muscles and skin and provide the skin with the vital oxygen it requires to produce healing and the production of healthy skin cells. Likewise, you will also improve your skin’s ability to rid the body of toxins, another health giving benefit. Face exercises can be done anywhere you have a private moment to practice them. Whether you make them part of your morning regimen or you decide to practice them in the morning and the evening, face exercises only take a few minutes a day to implement and the results are well worth the effort. In fact, the recommended amount of time that you should spend performing face exercises is no more than a mere fifteen minutes a day and your youthful appearance is more than worth fifteen minutes of your time. Improve your appearance with face exercises that you can perform at your convenience and improve the appearance of your skin and your self esteem!

Face masks

Basically all face masks have some sort of a cleansing action. Various ingredients are used in the face masks, depending on the skin type (know the skin type) and to some extent on the availability of materials. Clays form an important constituent of many face masks as they are excellent absorbing agents. Gums and polymers are added to lend sticking properties to the clays. They help to remove dirt, sebum, and dead skin so that the skin looks clean, soft and youthful. To have a natural beauty is a blessing for a woman but most women tend to lose it through their own negligence in their bid to outdo each other in modernity. As soon as she reaches adolescence, a girl is attracted towards artificial makeup. The excessive use of makeup makes one lose her natural beauty. The pores of the skin get clogged by these makeup things. Clogging prevents the carbon dioxide inside our body fromcoming out and also prevents fresh oxygen from entering the body. This results in the skin losing its original glow. The face becomes unattractive. It must be remembered that to regain the lost beauty is extremely difficult. Facial, once a week keeps the face attractive. For a facial the face is first thoroughly cleaned. After that it is massagedand steamed and then the face-pack is applied.

The facts on facials:

A French massage text from 1907 describes a treatment invented by Dr. Jacquet which included a vigorous repetitive mobilization of the facial skin. Nearly a century ago, his method revolutionized skin care. Nonetheless, this method had certain disadvantages for the therapist (fatigue, reduced finger sensitivity) and for the client (discomfort and inadequate finger pressure). Today's facials are much less strenuous. After all, facials are not only meant to provide deep cleansing and hydration to the skin, the second-most popular spa service provides relaxation and rejuvenation as well. A cosmetic treatment of the face, facials involve a variety of skin treatments during the hour-long procedure. After a light cleansing, an esthetician examines a client's skin through a brightly lit magnifying lamp. With a steam vapor directed at the face, the esthetician then begins the process of exfoliation, which removes dead skin cells from the skin's surface. Exfoliation is an important step in the facial as it helps to reveal younger and healthier-looking skin underneath. Exfoliation also provides rejuvenation to the skin and helps to prevent acne. Extreme cases of exfoliation, dermabrasion and microdermabrasion, actually remove the surface layer of skin by abrasion, or sanding. Both procedures are effective for sun-damaged skin or to remove scars and dark spots. Estheticians then extract blackheads if suitable for your skintype. A facial massage follows to help relax the client and stimulate skin and facial muscles. Then, a rich mineral essential mask is applied to the skin. The type of mask varies according to skin type (dry, oily, combination, sensitive, mature). Afterward, the esthetician applies toners and protective creams to the skin. Spas may offer different types of facials. The first, a Basic European Facial, is ideal for combination or sensitive skin. The deep cleansing and calming massage help to hydrate and purify the skin. A Mini Facial is ideal for someone who doesn't have a lot of time. The relaxing procedure cleanses and balances skin. It includes a natural exfoliation and stimulating massage. Renewal Facials is a great anti-aging treatment. For dry, mature, or damaged skin, the Renewal Facial retexturises skin, helping to elimated fine lines while evening out skin tone. Seaweed, a natural hydroxy acid is combined with alpha hydroxyl acids to exfoliate the skin. The result is fresher, supple-looking skin. An Oxygen Facial uses a mist of pure oxygen in part of its treatment, while the Acne Facial pays special attention to extractions. Also gaining popularity, a Gentlemen's Facial is designed with the masculine skin in mind. The deep-cleansing facial addresses the needs of a male face, using products to exfoliate, cleanse, and relieve irritation from shaving, pollution, or environmental aggressions. It's important to find a reputable day spa before making an appointment for a facial. Your esthetician should be a professional who has been trained in the field of skin care. Prior to beginning your session, the esthetician should wash her hands and have prepared an impeccably clean set-up. As the session begins, a good esthetician should inquire about your skin care regimen, and will provide advice on how to take care of your skin between facials. Spa-goers also require an esthetician that will be responsive to any needs, especially as it applies to discomfort caused during the procedure. For the most part, facials are very relaxing experiences, so it's important any extractions are done without causing too much discomfort to the client. As with massages, a professional esthetician will follow your lead in how much chatting you want to do. During the facial, an esthetician may bring up any skin problems she has identified that may require a dermatologist. Ideally, for those who can afford it, facials are recommended every four to six weeks because that is the time it takes for skin to regenerate. However, a facial at least four times a year can have great benefits as well. However, they can be quite a bit more in larger cities, destination spas, and resorts. Specialized masks and serums can also increase the price. It's a good idea to speak to a spa staff regarding your skin type and needs prior to booking a facial.

EYES SPEAK............!

Good nutrition is very important for both your general and eye health. Good nutrition helps our body to grow, repair wear and tear, protect against infection and to function properly. An eye is an organ that detects light. Different kinds of light-sensitive organs are found in a variety of creatures. The simplest eyes do nothing but detect whether the surroundings are light or dark. More complex eyes are used to provide the sense of vision. More recently it has been suggested that two types of antioxidants, known as carotenoids, called Lutein and Zeaxanthin may also help with eye health. Taking antioxidants, Vitamin C, E, beta-carotene and the nutritional supplements of zinc, selenium and manganese minerals may help in preventing eye-disorders. Diets rich in antioxidants, especially vegetables and fruits, will protect the eyes from forming macular degeneration. This will also benefit the body with excellent mineral and vitamin intake including lutein and the B vitamins. Diet that includes vegetables, fruits and food rich in antioxidants may helps in preventing blindness.
Dealing With Common Eye Problems and Injuries

The best rule of thumb for when to see an eye specialist if you injure your eyes is "when in doubt, check it out!"
If you have a red eye, pain in an eye that doesn't go away within a short period of time, or at any time have had changes in your vision, then it's time to have your eyes checked.
If you get any small foreign objects in your eye, such as sand or sawdust or metal shavings, don't rub it. Flush your eye for several minutes with lukewarm water (it may be easiest to do this in the shower). If it still feels as though there is something in your eye, then be sure to see an eye specialist.
If you've been hit in the eye and it looks strange or appears to be bleeding, or if you have changes in or lose your vision, go to a hospital emergency department right away to be checked out.
One of the most common eye injuries for teens is a scratched cornea, which is often related to wearing contact lenses or playing sports. With a scratched cornea, it may feel like something is in your eye when there's really nothing there. Your eye may get red and irritated, produce lots of tears, and be overly sensitive to light.
If you think you have any kind of eye injury and you wear contact lenses, stop wearing your contacts until you see an eye specialist. Wearing contact lenses if you have an eye injury could damage your eyes more or cause an infection to develop. Don't worry — if your cornea is scratched, it usually will heal after a week or two of medicated eye drops and not wearing your contacts. You may hate wearing your old glasses, but it's just for a little while — and it beats permanently damaging your eyes.

MANICURE AND PEDICURE

Every woman loves having a manicure and pedicure – it’s one of those beauty treatments that leaves you feeling groomed and great. It can be expensive though, so how can you do your own salon style job at home without it costing a fortune?
Start with a Blank Canvas

Make sure your nails are squeaky clean on both hands and feet. Take off any old nail polish using acetone-free nail-polish remover and a cotton pad. Acetone free polish remover is kinder to your nails, doesn’t dry them out, and some brands also have conditioning agents in for extra manicure and pedicure TLC.
Let your nails dry, and then file them carefully. Don’t use an over abrasive or a metal nail file, as these can encourage your nails to peel and split. Opt for a fine grade emery board or a professional style board that can be picked up cheaply from most high street chemists. Another beauty treatment tip is to always try and file nails in one direction – sawing backwards and forwards on the nail can damage it

Give them a Good Soaking

The next step is to soften your nails and cuticles in a bowl of warm water. You can also mix in some cuticle oil for extra pampering. After about ten minutes, dry your hands and nails and apply some cuticle cream or hand/foot lotion. Gently ease the cuticles back by making tiny circles against them with a thin wooden cuticle stick.
When the cream has soaked in, gently rub the cuticles with a warm, damp flannel, using a motion to help slough away dead cuticle skin. Don’t cut the skin away even if you’ve seen it done in salons – while they may do it as part of their nail and beauty treatment, it can cause infection, and even damage the nail bed.
After you’ve worked on your cuticles, wash off any oil residue and dry your nails thoroughly.
Getting to Work on the Nails

For salon perfect nails, a base coat should be part of the beauty treatment too. Don’t skip it, as a good base coat will be worth the effort. It holds your polish in place and makes your manicure and pedicure last longer. Base coat also stops dark coloured polish from staining your nails.
When you get to the colour, try to sweep the polish across your nails the way they do when they are giving you the full on beauty treatment at a salon. If you can, try and do it in three strokes, from base to tip:
Brush the polish up the middle of each nail, then along each side. Use one dip of the polish for each per nail, and wipe the brush once for each dunk in the bottle before you apply it to your nail. This keeps each coat thin and makes the drying time faster.
Leave two minutes between each coat of polish, including any base and top coats – this also helps the nails to dry more quickly.
Always finish your manicure and pedicure with a topcoat. A protective top coat will give you a harder, more resilient finish, and give your nails more shine, too. It can also help to keep your nails healthy, preventing moisture loss and stopping breakages.
Once the nails have dried, sit back and admire your beauty treatment!

DO CARE FOR YOUR HANDS

A lot of us take care of our face, but neglect our hands. I carry a little pot of Hand cream in my purse to put on my hands after I wash them. But I have a habit that was undoing all my hard work – washing dishes without wearing gloves. I usually do just a few dishes at a time, and it was too much work to put them on for just a mug or a lunch plate. But I’m wearing them every single time, from now on. The problem is that dishwashing liquid is alkaline, which is hard on the skin. The skin has a pH of between 4 and 6.5, which is slightly acidic. Dish washing liquid is extremely alkaline to dissolve grease and dirt. Unfortunately, that also strips your skin of its natural acid mantle, which is there to protect your skin. Harsh alkaline soaps age the skin. It's not just dishwashing soaps. A lot of big brand soaps (Camay, Dial, Irish Spring, Ivory, Palmolive and Zest) are also very alkaline, with pHs that range between 9 and 10. Dove is the mildest, with a pH of 7. It’s important to understand that a pH 8 soap is ten times more alkaline than a pH 7 soap. A pH 9 soap is ten times harsher than a pH 8 soap. So a pH ten soap is A THOUSAND.
To take care of your hands:

* Wear a high SPF sunscreen on the backs of your hands every day, even in winter and on cloudy days
* Wear gloves every time you wash dishes or handwash clothing
* Use a mild pH soap like Dove when washing your hands
* Put lotion on your hands after you wash them, every time!
* Always wear gloves when you garden or do heavy housework
* Wear gloves to protect your hands from cold weather.
* Get manicures from reputable spas or nail salons that practice good sanitation.

FOOT CARE AND YOU

Your feet are multifarious structures, which may reflect your general health and comfort. Symptoms such as persistent pain or soreness are warning signs. If, for example, you neglect a painful joint, it can deteriorate and become acutely painful. Then you may start walking badly to avoid the pain and that can lead to more serious postural problems.

Cosmetic Safety

Serious problems from cosmetic use are rare, but sometimes problems arise with specific products. FDA warned consumers last February about the danger of using aerosol hairspray near heat, fire, or while smoking. Until hairspray is fully dry, it can ignite and cause serious burns. Injuries and deaths have occurr ed from fires related to aerosol hairsprays.
Another problem can occur with aerosol sprays or powders: If they are inhaled, they can cause lung damage.
The most common injury from cosmetics is from scratching the eye with a mascara wand. Eye infections can result if eye scratches go untreated. Such infections can lead to ulcers on the cornea, loss of lashes, or even blindness. To play it safe, never try to apply mascara while riding in a car, bus, train, or plane. Sharing makeup can also lead to serious problems. Cosmetics become contaminated with bacteria the brush or applicator sponge picks up from the skin--and if you moisten brushes with saliva, the problem is much more severe. Washing your hands before using makeup will help prevent exposing the makeup to bacteria.
Artificial nails can be a source of problems, especially when not applied correctly. Artificial nails must be completely sealed because any space between the natural nail and the artificial nail gives fungal infection an opportunity to begin. Such infections can lead to permanent nail loss.
Sleeping while wearing eye makeup can cause problems, too. If mascara flakes into your eyes while you sleep, you might awaken with itching, bloodshot eyes, and possibly infections or eye scratches. To avoid eye infections or injury, remove all makeup before going to bed.
Other safety tips are:
Keep makeup containers closed tight when not in use.
Keep makeup out of the sunlight to avoid destroying the preservatives.
Don't use eye cosmetics if you have an eye infection such as conjunctivitis (pink eye), and throw away any makeup you were using when you first discovered the infection.
Never add any liquid to a product unless the instructions tell you to.
Throw away any makeup if the color changes or an odor develops. Preservatives can degrade over time and may not be able to fight bacteria.

COSMETICS

Skin Care

Cosmetics can't work miracles, but they can help keep your skin clean and looking moist and soft. They also can temporarily close pores, plump up skin to make it appear smoother, and give you a rosy glow or blush.
Many cosmetic products are designed to protect the skin of people over 30 against dryness and the accompanying wrinkles. But these aren't the concerns of most teens. The biggest skin problem for most teenagers is acne. Some studies show that all adolescents have acne to some degree because when puberty hits, your skin starts secreting more oil. This contributes to blackheads and pimples, which cause your pores to stretch a little bit. Although acne cannot be avoided simply by washing your face, the oils on the surface of your skin can be diminished by frequent washing with cleansers made for that purpose.
What cosmetics can or cannot do for your complexion is determined by the ingredients of the cosmetics and your own complexion. Cosmetics contain ingredients from nature and from the laboratory. Some work well for cleaning, others are good for lubricating--and some don't do very much at all.
It's a good idea to read the labeling on cosmetics to find out what the product contains. Some ingredients, such as alcohol and mineral oil, are fairly common.

HAIR CARE

Secrets to healthy hair

Unfortunately, most of the real basic ingredients for healthy hair are at odds with the way modern Americans lead their lives. Still, it bears repeating to say that coloring your hair, going on crash diets, and smoking or being with smokers will damage short and long hair. Care should also be taken to use products with a minimum of chemicals present to prevent a damaging build up that essentially suffocates the hair shaft. There are specific considerations for various types of hair.
LONG HAIR

Although many people believe long hair is more difficult to handle, in reality it is the most versatile of all hair styles. Tangling is a major issue and can be lessened by detangling before shampooing and by not piling the hair on top of the head and bunching it when wet. It is best to shampoo while showering and to work the shampoo down the length of the hair as if you were milking a cow. Always end with a cold water rinse to enhance the sheen of your hair.
SHORT HAIR

Short hair presents few problems in and of itself. There are of course issues with the quality of hair worn in any style (curly, fine, thick, frizzy, oily) which will be discussed below. The major consideration in short hair is to match the cut to the shape of your face. There are seven basic facial shapes: diamond, heart, oval, rectangle, round, square, and triangular. Not all facial shapes are compatible with all cuts. Diamond-shaped faces that are narrow at the forehead but wide at the cheeks with a small, pointy chin work best with cuts that add more fullness at the crown of the head to balance out the width of the cheeks.Heart-shaped faces with their wide foreheads and small chins looks best when paired with a layered bob with lots of volume. Asymmetrical cuts also compliment this facial configuration. Oval faces are characterized by high foreheads and narrow but round chins. This is the most balance of all the facial shapes and works well with any cut.Rectangular faces are long with high foreheads and defined jaws and chins. In general a chin-length or shoulder-length cut will be most effective to call attention away from the length of the face and to give an overall softening effect. Some fringe or bangs at the forehead also works well.Round faces have wide foreheads and full jaws. Because the shape is similar to the oval, most styles will work but be sure to have fullness above the ears. The softer the cut and the more the layers come forward toward the face the better the style for this facial type. Asymmetrical cuts are also good. The square face with its "lantern" jaw and wide forehead needs a graduated cut with lots of volume at the crown. Triangular faces, on the other hand, that are widest at the jaw and more narrow at the temple can actually accommodate most styles except those with volume at the top or crown of the head.

CURLY HAIR

Curly hair care can present many issues because this hair type is so susceptible to frizziness. Many people use the old method of lightly spritzing the hair with hair spray, allowing the product to dry, and then shaping the hair with either their fingers or a brush. Be careful about doing this too much, however. Hair spray contains alcohol and if your hair gets too dry the frizziness will only get worse.Always use a wide tooth comb and try to gently detangle your hair while it is wet. Never brush wet hair, however. It is best to allow the hair to drip dry. Beware of straightening products. Most contain harsh chemicals that will damage your hair over time and can lead to hair loss. If you feel you must straighten your hair use a steam straightening device set to the lowest temperature or go to a salon. Professional hair care products for straightening should cause less damage to your hair in the hands of a competent stylist.

FINE HAIR

With fine hair, the shorter the cut the better. Generally fine hair is very limp and cannot take the weight of a longer hair style. You should have the benefit of good sheen, however, so a short and relatively blunt style will give the illusion of volume. (Layering only makes fine hair thinner.)Don't do anything to make the hair brittle, which leads to breaking and split ends. Avoid the excessive heat of blow drying and curling irons. Read the labels of your hair care products and avoid harsh detergents like sodium lauryl sulfate. Minimize the use of hairsprays and gels that contain too much alcohol. These products will dry out the hair.Don't over condition. This leads to chemical build-up. "Leave in" conditioners are especially bad in this regard. At least once a week shampoo with a product designed for cleansing the hair only. This will combat build up from conditioners, which leaves the hair even more limp and less manageable.

BEAUTY TIPS

It is generally claimed that "Beauty must give the sensitive beholder utmost satisfaction merely its existence". In other words beauty is what appears to. a beholder a perfect symmetry merely on a casual viewing. If you are a well-blossomed rose it must thrill you; must give you a sense of exhilaration, a share of fulfillment. So it means beauty is the overall appearance of a perfect symmetry.
With reference to physical beauty it can be said that all organs of a body must appear symmetrical and homogenous with other limbs. If you have a very comely physique but not beautiful features, the over all impact may not be as domineering as it might be with your having sharp or captivating features as well.
And even if you don't have very bright complexion but your body and features fall in a symmetrical poise you might have many onlookers falling for you. So the quintessence of beauty is symmetry. That is why in this part, of our course, we shall be devoting our attention to individual limbs in order to develop a cohesive symmetry among them.
Although the basic 'reflectors' of physical beauty, particularly of a female figure have been dealt separately in the coming pages, yet, while discussing the overall impact of beauty those points will also be touched upon briefly.

Where you are out looking for a certain type of footwear,or accompanying someone on a shooping spree or just taking a stroll down the mall doing window shopping, which is one specific type of shoes that almost always catch your eyes ad your attention..

BAGS

BAG IT !!!

Bigger is no longer better.Where once the gargantuan reigned, now the pint-sized brings prestige.Maybe it was one too many chiropractic bills, but whatever the cause, the absurdly oversize purse is making way of the newest "it"bag--the clutch.Always an elegant evening essential, they are now just as desireable for day, with larger rectangularframe sizes to hold more stuff, detachable(or drop in)straps for versatality and pretty yet professional finishes like embossedreptile or lush-hued leathers. You may want to get your hands on one of the fancier versions of these small wonders as well.
The heavy era is over,or atleast its gone underground for a while.Designers are tempting us with an irresitible variety of miniature marterpieces, and all the top decorative trends are lavishly applied---mirror-patenet finishes, bejeweled closures, wild animal prints(good in small doses)and finely detailed ruching and ruffling..

DRESS

Sophisticated colours

Feminine Fit
Feminine detailing makes an appearance in ruffled shirts, lace, belted waists,wide-leg pants, full skirts and monochromatic flower appliques on everything from pants to kameezs. And with the return of femininity, the dress flows.Dress shapes are easy on the figure and styled to enhance curves this season making them comfortable.

GOLD JEWELLERY

Craftsmen have been inspired by gold’s beauty for thousands of years, and have regularly used it to create symbols of wealth and power. As Pindar wrote nearly 2,500 years ago, ‘Gold is the child of Zeus, neither moth nor rust devoureth it.’ Today, gold is still treasured as a basic form of saving in many countries, but there’s no doubt it exists primarily as a decorative material

It’s not surprising that most people think of gold as an expensive, luxurious metal. You only need to read about gold's extra ordinary history to see how that came to be. But gold has an alter-ego – as an incredibly versatile and useful material in science and technology. In fact, our ever-expanding use of technology has actually been a major factor in recent increases in the demand for gold.
